Mining Interview Tips

If you’re worried about acing your interview and getting the job you deserve, you’re in luck. After helping thousands of job seekers and employers find each other, we’ve learned enough to know how you can differentiate yourself from other candidates during a mining job interview

But instead of talking about the most common tips, we’re going to talk about three major interview techniques that are guaranteed to help you present the best version of yourself and nail your interview!

1. Prepare to answer both routine and unexpected questions.

Like any other interview, recruiters will ask the standard questions that will determine whether you are competent enough to take on the position that you applied for. They’ll ask about your skills and experience, so your answers should show them that you are the right person for this job.

They’ll also ask open-ended questions — the most common being: “Tell me about yourself,” which is just another way of asking about your background and experience. Or they might ask behaviour-based questions to understand your judgement and decision-making skills.

Before answering, take the time to think about what to say. How well you answer these questions will determine whether or not you get the job.

If you don’t want to be caught off guard by a question, do your research and find possible questions they may ask during the interview.

2. Set expectations early.

Some people might have the same skillset as you do so instead of just showing them your skills and competencies, show what you can do for them. When you’re given the opportunity, paint a picture of how you can help the company achieve their goals in the first 30, 60, and 90 days of the job.

Doing this shows that you are committed to the job and that hiring you will be a good investment of their time and money.

If they don’t ask you a question that will lead to that answer, wait for your turn to ask questions.

Speaking of mining interview questions, here’s the next technique.

3. Ask questions.

During a mining interview, they won’t ask all the questions. You have the opportunity to ask questions of your own.

And not just any question. Before going into your interview, come up with unique questions. It can be about your responsibilities, the work environment, the pay, and the company’s culture. If anything wasn’t covered during the interview, use this opportunity to learn more about the position. Just avoid saying, “I don’t have questions” because it shows that you’re not interested in the company and the job.
